At Cleaner Lamp, we are proud to share one of our most emblematic projects: the restoration of two monumental lamps and other lighting pieces of the Government Delegation in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This work reflects our dedication to preserving historical and artistic heritage through artisanal techniques and an unwavering commitment to quality. 🏛️ An assignment of great responsibility The Government Delegation in Las Palmas houses two monumental lamps, which, with the passage of time, required a comprehensive restoration. In addition to this central piece, we were entrusted with the restoration of four sconces and two table lamps, all of them with a high historical and artistic value. The main objective was to restore these pieces to their original splendor, respecting their design and materials, and ensuring their functionality and safety for future generations. 🔍 Diagnosis and Planning Before starting any intervention, we carry out an exhaustive diagnosis of each piece. This process included: Structural condition assessment: We identify deformations, cracks and wear in metallic structures and glass loss and/or breakage. Material analysis: We determine the composition of metals and glass in order to select the most appropriate cleaning and restoration methods. Photographic documentation: We record every detail to ensure a restoration faithful to the original design. With this information, we elaborate a personalized intervention plan for each piece, prioritizing the conservation of its original elements. 🧼 Component Cleaning and Restoration The cleaning of the pieces was carried out manually and meticulously, always using our specific product CLEANER LAMP, which restores the original shine to the glass and does not damage the metals. The metal components, mainly bronze, were treated to remove oxidation and restore their original finish. We used non-abrasive products with neutral PH to avoid damaging the original color and at the end we applied a coat of clear lacquer varnish to keep it clean for a longer period of time. 🔧Repair and Replacement of Elements During the restoration, it was necessary to repair or replace some damaged or missing elements. For this purpose, our craftsmen specialized in casting and chiseling...

The main and most complicated works carried out in the monumental lamp and the rest of the pieces of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands have been those that we detail below. We want to emphasize that the whole process we describe is completely manual and handmade. Each piece of bronze and each piece of glass is treated individually, following very precise steps that must be respected so that the lamp does not lose its essence. In this case we started with the added complication of its transportation to the peninsula so we had to be especially careful when packing the pieces.During the time that the intervention lasted, we left a lamp of our property that was also transferred from the peninsula to the island as a replacement. DisassemblyThe lamp, wall lamp or table lamp is disassembled piece by piece and at the same time it is classified and packed for transportation.Photographs, plans and drawings of the lamp and the parts are made so that everything will fit perfectly in its place during the subsequent assembly.State of conservation1. The inner frame of the lamps (central bar and spokes) was completely rusted and therefore the lamp had structural problems that affected the anchoring safety.2. The bronze had lost its color due to dirt and the time elapsed without good maintenance and was very blackened. The environment of the islands is conducive to oxidation and favors the appearance of stains.3. All the crimping of the glass was rotten and therefore without any consistency, so the chains had a fallen and dirty appearance.4. The glass had a grayish and blackened appearance due to the accumulation of dirt.5. The electrical installation did not comply with the current regulations for public places, neither in wiring, nor in sockets or candle holders.
